I usually like fried mushrooms with a lot of salt and spice, but this recipe reminded me that, there are a lot of amazing recipes out there with mushrooms that can make you do miracles with these nutritious little things. I found this recipe on very unusual way. It was behind this wooden, all grown with mushrooms box. Behind the box,I’ve found little book with flower covers full with recipes.
According to my mother, the little book belonged to my grandmother, she passed away when I was 3 years old. I picked up the book and immediately fell in love with every single recipe. I can now clearly see where my love for food comes from, it comes from my nana.
I started with this recipe since I’ve never experimented with mushrooms and I was a bit skeptical at first, but it turned out pretty well at the end. Try it out because it will literally change your perspective about mushrooms.
- 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup of shredded Cheddar Cheese
- ¼ cup minced onion
- 5 slices of cooked and chopped bacon
- 5 jalapeno chopped peppers
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 30 mushrooms
Start with preheating the oven to 350 degrees F. Then take a baking sheet and line it with aluminum foil. Mix the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, bacon, onion, jalapeno peppers, cumin and garlic powder together in a medium bowl. Spoon the cream cheese mixture into every prepared mushroom. Place the stuffed mushrooms onto the baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven until they become tender and all the cheese is melted. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes.
